Job Overview

Amazon’s Worldwide Operations network is responsible for delivering millions of packages and customer smiles daily. The Area Manager II role is central to this effort, managing a team of hourly associates in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics environment.

You’ll be responsible for leading shift teams, ensuring operational excellence across safety, quality, attendance, and performance metrics. The role is physically demanding and requires a hands-on management approach, often in changing and physically active conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and mentor hourly associates during their shifts
  • Manage and optimize safety, productivity, and delivery performance
  • Coordinate with departments like Safety, HR, Engineering, and Loss Prevention
  • Ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time with quality standards
  • Stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and perform frequent physical activities including pushing, pulling, bending, squatting, and climbing stairs
  • Work in varying temperature environments (including outdoors) and loud settings
  • Drive continuous improvement in fulfillment processes

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in employee and performance management
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2+ years of full-time experience at Amazon
  • Flexibility to work varying schedules, including weekends, nights, and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing 20+ employees
  • Knowledge of Lean techniques, Six Sigma, and Kaizen practices
  • Strong analytical and process improvement background
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, Operations, Logistics, or Supply Chain
  • Industry background in retail, manufacturing, distribution, military, biotech, or similar environments
